The perfect weekend getaway at House At Normanville
Is there anything better than the feeling of going on holidays? The anticipation, the packing, maybe finding time to read a book (or at least start one) and knowing that the gift of time and making memories with loved ones is just around the corner.
With family life busier than ever the opportunities to get away and escape are few and far between. So for my family, it is imperative to find a quick and easy getaway that allowed us to reconnect as a family and unwind. This is why I found ‘House at Normanville’ can why House at Normanville can be your sanctuary for a weekend.

The drive down in early Spring past the sprawling hills and farmland on the short hour and fifteen minute drive from Adelaide was vibrant and green, immediately creating a sense of escape.
And if you’re anything like me, the lure of a beautiful interior, designed by owners Zoe and Trent Kelly is like having your cake and eating to (or in this case… an apple custard berlina from Yankalilla Bakery on your drive through).
A weekend escape and an interior that is calm, sophisticated and immediately feels like a home away from home from the minute you step inside is everything my family craves to reconnect.
Your new home away from home features Hamptons inspired blue tones throughout the home, and is defined as where the farm meets the sea.

As the sun sets, you don’t need to move an inch, as you can enjoy the orange sky setting over the distant sea view. What more could you want? Just an Aperol Spritz you say, well that you will need to pack and bring with you, but if you’re still looking for more, you can venture outside to the enjoy the fire pit and pizza oven which seamlessly fits in as part of the landscape, yet creates an immediate environment designed for conversation amongst friends and that time to connect, have a few laughs and make memories.

What to do on your stay?
The house itself along with local hot spots and it’s close proximity to local beaches, wineries and restaurants provide a luxury escape.
Visiting in early Spring, the weather was kind and gave me an insight into what a summer at House at Normanville would be like. Salty hair, beach days and long nights on the deck and with a selection of beaches within a 10 minute drive or less, you can choose from the local beach at Normanville or nearby neighbouring beaches, Carrackalinga or Sellicks Beach.
We recommend visiting one of the local cellar doors to first try to pick up a bottle (or two) to take home and enjoy on the deck. The golf course at Links Lady Bay is close by if finding the nearest to the pin is your thing and the club house serves great family friendly food.

But for me, the best end of the day has to be spent with a cheese platter, glass of wine and kids roaming the back yard whilst making home made pizza in the pizza oven. It’s these moments that House at Normanville creates which allows you to slow down, reconnect and spend time, just being together. And isn’t this what a getaway is all about? Who knows you might even find time to finish your book?
Not to take my word for it, we spoke to home owner Zoe Kelly, for her top 5 places that are a must visit during your stay.

Top 5 things to do in Normanville
Breakfast: We love One LIttle Sister in the main street at Normanville – delicious food and you can also check out some of their local produce and artworks made by locals.
Shopping: Following breakfast, popping into Maurie & Fox, a gift store also located in the Main Street.
Drinks: if you’re arriving later on Friday night, heading straight the Normanville surf club for Friday night drinks is perfect, so you can drop your bags off and head straight there.
Dinner: For dinner, we always find time almost every time we stay to go to Leonard’s Mill which proudly source their produce from local Fleurieu and Peninsula growers and farmers.
An afternoon out: Last, but not least for our top 5 is Forktree Brewing, it’s perfect place to try the local craft beer and is family friendly with room for the kids to run to wild – check out their Facebook page to see what’s on.
