Well, we all make them, New Year’s Resolutions: exercise more, eat less… we all know the standard list. I’m talking about a few little resolutions or things you can do for your home. A couple of little ways to freshen things up, give your home, and you some positive energy.
By now, Im sure you’ve packed away all your Christmas decorations and you’re left with the same space you had in 2015, and it leaves you feeling a little flat.
Resolution 1: Give your home big clean. Boring I know, especially if you’re on holidays the last thing you want to do is spend these summer days cleaning. It will give you the chance to put everything away in its place, declutter and have a good look at some spaces that may need a little freshening up.
Resolution 2: Add some green. After cleaning, this is one of the smallest things you can do that can add the most impact when trying to freshen up your space. Some great indoor plants (that take little or no maintenance, trust me Ive tested them) are Devils Ivy, Zanzibar Gem or just pick up some Monstera Deliciosa leaves from your local florist. We can help you out with a planter, try our concrete range from Zakkia or add some copper into your space with the Cooee planters. Also, the beautiful hand blown glass range from Zakkia is perfect for holding your greenery around your home
Resolution 3: If your home is usually the last thing you spend you hard earned cash on a few new cushions or throws might be just the ticket. A new cushion or two can completely change the look of your couch or or your bedroom. And that hard earned cash can go along way for some cushions with us at the moment, as they are all on sale for only $30. My fav is the Blush Triangle Print to add some softness to any space.
Resolution 4: Speaking of the bedroom, resolution 4 is “make your bed”. It seems like a small gesture, but everyday when you spend less than 5 minutes straightening your bed you add a little bit of calm to a crazy world. The simple act of making your bed gives you a feeling of accomplishment to start your day and, experts say, can be a key to unlocking a positive, motivated mindset – who knew? So when pulling up the doona and straightening the pillows, neaten up the bedside with a candle and and a little tray to hold your precious pieces (try the Marble Flared Dish) so when you come back in the evening you’ve got a calm, inviting space to rest.
Resolution 5: The linen cupboard. Yes, we all have that space in our home where we have a few too many sheets, stuffed on top of a few too many towels that you quickly lost the door on any time you open it. Well, 2016 is the year to fix it I say! Treat yourself to a set of new sheets, donate some old ones to the local animal shelter. Clear out all the old towel towels that aren’t as soft as they once were and pick up a couple of new ones. Maybe try out our Turkish Towels in either denim or stonewash grey, a modern alternative for the humble bath towel. While your there grab a Roundie for the beach & make the most of those summer days.
There you have it, White Home Boutiques top 5 Resolutions for Your Home in 2016. Each on their own will make a difference to keep your home feeling fresh and new; ready to take on the new year what ever it may bring. Happy new year from us to you, may it bring all you wish for. x
