Sort Out Your Kitchen

October 3, 2016

Somehow we seem to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen at the moment. Having things that are both functional, look stylish and that you love to have around helps to increase your enjoyment of your space. We’ve teamed up with expert organiser,, Sarah Shanahan to get some tips for you to sort out your kitchen, the heart of your home as well as styling your space for function. Here’s the best advice you’ll read all day.

Being organised in the kitchen makes for a happier household and it doesn’t take too much to get your kitchen organised and looking stylish and on trend.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, where you and your family come together to share a meal, to prepare a meal and to clean up after meals. Basically it is the most used room of the home so it should be a place that makes you happy, calm and relaxed. Most of all it needs to be organised to run smoothly.
Like any other part of the house, it should be filled with only things you need, use and love. Don’t keep gadgets, kitchenware and items in your precious kitchen space if they are not regularly used. Store them away safely and know they can be retrieved on those rare occasions you do need them.
I believe we all should use beautiful homewares and kitchenware everyday, not just saved for special occasions. Life is too short, use them now and let them bring you joy everyday!

I love having my kitchen organised and zoned and in doing this it allows me to create little vignettes in my kitchen of most regularly used and loved items, it also makes your bench look a whole lot more organised and prettier too!

To keep the kitchen clutter from creeping in I recommend a clean out of drawers, cupboards and the pantry every school holidays. By doing this you will soon realise what you both use and don’t use and therefore what stays and what can go. Have baskets in your pantry for excess items to make for a calmer, but also more organised look, not every item needs to be seen!

Most of all enjoy your beautiful kitchen and your beautiful kitchenware, have things you use and love on display. Have some fun creating little zones and vignettes (clusters of objects) on your kitchen bench and most of all enjoy it, embrace the business of it and the memories you are making with your family.
